Stroke Research Fellowship 2008

Eastern Melbourne Neurosciences offers a one year Clinical Fellowship in Stroke research based at Box Hill Hospital and collaborating institutions within Eastern Health, Melbourne. Research scholarships (Dawson Bequest) are available for those undertaking a higher degree.

Eastern Melbourne Neurosciences at Box Hill Hospital is a leading research site in the Australasian Stroke Trials Network (ASTN) and is linked with Monash University. The strength of the unit is in acute stroke thrombolysis, TIAs, neuro-imaging (CT and MRI), and evaluation of neurobiological/neuroinflammatory markers. Within the ASTN there are strong collaborative links with other stroke research centres. There are also links with the Australian Centre for Blood Diseases (ACBD) at the Alfred Medical Research and Education Precinct (AMREP) in the investigation of thrombolytic drugs (stroke basic science research).

Medical applicants should have medical qualifications recognized in Victoria and preferably be advanced trainee in Neurology/Geriatric Medicine (FRACP). Those undertaking a higher degree or post-doctoral degree (eg. PhD) are encouraged to apply.

Non-medical applicants must have a basic qualification in the field of medical sciences (eg science, nursing, allied health).
